# GETTING READY TO LEARN

Making the moves from being in school is not an easy task. Student need to make new friends at the new places. There also many new things student need to know and adapt with the university life.

LEARNING STYLE & CHARACTERISTIC OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS

LEARNING STYLE

The first topic of UED102 course is about learning style learning inventory. But first what is learning style inventory? From what I`ve learnt so far learning style inventory is to help student determine which learning style they have. There are three types of learning style commonly used in the world. The three types are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. In this post I will explain to you guys all those three types of learning style inventory.

LEARNING STYLE 1:VISUAL

The visual learning style, often referred to as spatial learning style, is a way of learning in which information is associated by images. These learning style require learners to gain information from the images. People with a visual learning style often referred to as visual spatial learners.

LEARNING STYLE 2: AUDITORY

Auditory learning is a style in which an individual learns most efficiently through listening. A person who is an auditory learner receive information better through speech or sound. These individuals are typically good listeners and can easily remember information that have been spoken.

LEARNING STYLE 3:KINESTHETIC

Kinesthetic learning is a learning style in which an individual learns by carrying out physical activities, rather than listening to a lecture or watching demonstrations. Kinesthetic learners have an excellent physical memory. They learn quickly and permanently what they do as they learning. Example of physical activities are swimming, dancing, running, and other sports.

CHARACTERISTIC OF SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS

TASK 2- GOAL SETTING

By: PROF MADYA DR MOHAMAD AZMI NIAS AHMAD

What is a goal?

·       Goal setting is a process of planning your ideal future and make effort to motivate yourself to turn your vision of our ideal future into reality. Setting our goals can help us to choose where we want to go and achieve what we want in our life.

·       The process of the goal setting will help you where you want to go in life.

·       Properly set goals can be incredibly motivating and as you get into the habit of setting and archieving goals, you will find yourself confidence builds fast.

CHARACTERISTICS OF GOALS

SPECIFIC

-        Create goals that are clear and well-defined , focusing on what you want to achieve. E.g what is it that you want, from a particular goal? What you want to achieve? Everything must be clearly specified. You have to be specific about the details. It is better to write them down and stick it on the wall or door of refrigerator or any place where you can see it every time. If the goal has a picture , put it up . These specific details program your sub-conscious mind , and your focus shifts from the obstacles to the efforts that you can make to attain the goal.

MEASURABLE

-        Set goals that can be tracked and evaluated to determine your progress. E.g. You need to identify the quantifiable aspect of the goal. This way you will be able to measure your progress, and actually remain motivated. For certain kinds of goals, you may not be able to measure the results, especially for relationship goals or spiritual goals, but you can always record the activities that you are doing that will take you towards the goal.

ATTAINABLE

-        Ensure that your goals are realistic and within your capabilities. E.g. some people set goals, more to impress others. Many times people set unattainable goals so that they can later blame their failure on the goal that was impossible to start with. So, set goals that may be difficult and challenging but not impossible.

 RELAVANT

-        Align your goals with your values and aspirations to maintain motivation. One important aspect of setting up relevant goals is knowing if you have the right resources to achieve them.

TIME-BOUND

-        Establish a deadline or timeframe to keep yourself accountable and maintain momentum. It must not be too short, as it will make the goal unattainable, and not be too much. Time is one of the prices that you are paying for the goal, and you must give it time that the goal is worth.
